Maple syrup cookies taste so good, I bet you can’t just eat one of them. When we made the transition into a healthier lifestyle, we were at our friends house for dinner and she had made these cookies for dessert. I couldn’t believe it when I found out they were egg free, gluten free and dairy free. How wonderful the taste was!
Because my husband and I make our own Canadian Maple Syrup I started using this recipe all the time in our home. Maple syrup is such a pure ingredient to use in your baking and free of any chemicals or additives as well. So for me this choose was easier, these gluten free cookie recipe quickly became a regular in our home.
You can add walnuts to these to make them maple walnut cookies as well another family favourite from my childhood.
This recipe uses good quality ingredients such as ground almonds, ground walnuts, and flax seeds. All these are wonderful for your health of your body. And a good choice when going gluten free.
Maple Syrup Cookies
- 2 1/2 cups of ground up walnuts
- 2/3 cups gluten free flour or almond flour
- 1 tsp. sea salt
- 1/3 cup of ground flax seed ( flax meal)
- 1/3 cup of carob chips
- 1/2 cup of pure maple syrup
- 2 tsp. vanilla extract
Mix all the above ingredients together in a food processor, you may add chopped walnuts as well, about 1/4 cup full
Drop by ice cream scooper flatten with a fork. Bake on a parchment lined cookie sheet
Bake at 350 for 10-15 minutes
