Gluten Free Playdough

Our “Never Fail” Play Dough Recipe

 

  • 1 cup of water
  • 2 tbsp of vegetable oil
  • ¾ cup of rice flour ( or bean, corn, etc)
  • ¼ cup of cornstarch
  • ¼ cup of sea salt
  • 2 tbsp of cream of tartar
  • Food colouring

Play DoughIn saucepan over medium heat, bring water and oil to a rolling boil. Stir together flour, cornstarch, salt and cream of tartar. Pour all at once into boiling mixture, stirring constantly , for about 30 seconds or until ball forms.

Turn out onto surface lightly dusted with cornstarch. Cool for 5 minutes. Knead 8-10 times or until very smooth.

To colour gluten free play dough, divide one batch into portions for the number of colours desired, or make a batch for each colour. For red, blue, green or yellow with fork or spoon, work in colouring drop by drop to obtain desired shade.

Store in airtight containers at room temperature.

Creates hours of fun for kids to play with using cookie cutters, small utensils such as rolling pins, pizza cutters, kids scissors etc….
